About
Danakil, French reggae from Marly-le-Roi bringing roots and modern messages since 2000.
Danakil emerged from the Parisian suburbs as a collective of eight students united by a passion for reggae. Their debut album, Microclimat, was self-produced in 2006 after extensive live performances, capturing the essence of their early repertoire. Over the years, the band developed a distinct identity balancing the traditional roots reggae spirit with contemporary influences. The band has since released nine vinyl records, many on their own Baco Records label. Key albums include Dialogue de Sourds (2010) and La Rue Raisonne (2016), both available on vinyl with original pressings still sought by collectors.
Danakil is active on stage, having performed nearly 300 concerts to date. Their works often blend reggae rhythms with topical themes and collaborations with notable artists.
