Horace Silver was above all attached to his roots. It was these that often infused his incandescent playing with funky accents. The pianist never forgot that his father, originally from Cape Verde, had introduced him to other music. And this record (his best?) was dedicated to him. Accompanied by Joe Henderson (tenor saxophone) with Carmell Jones (trumpet) lurking in the background, the fiery musician revels, multiplies the swerves, rejoices, and celebrates without too much fuss a fluid and immediately captivating jazz.
