About
ZZ Top, Texas blues rock trio blending gritty riffs and distinctive style since 1969.
ZZ Top emerged from Houston’s blues-based rock scene, pioneering a blend of southern rock, blues, and hard rock elements. The trio, consisting of Billy Gibbons (guitar and vocals), Dusty Hill (bass and vocals), and Frank Beard (drums), is recognized for their distinctive guitar tone and powerful vocals. Their image evolved from classic Texan cowboy hats and boots to bearded prospectors in the early 1980s, coinciding with the MTV era.
The band’s major commercial breakthroughs include the 1983 album Eliminator, featuring tracks like "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Sharp Dressed Man". ZZ Top has a notable catalog of over 15 vinyl records available, spanning studio albums, live recordings, and soundtrack contributions.
