The Jimi Hendrix Experience
About
The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pioneers of the power trio, melding blues and psychedelic rock.
Three groundbreaking albums, numerous live recordings—vinyl editions range from original 1967 pressings to deluxe reissues.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience originated in London in 1966, led by guitarist Jimi Hendrix with Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. The band bridged blues, psychedelic and hard rock, and helped popularize the power trio format in rock music. Hendrix’s use of effects, feedback, and expressive guitar play set new standards. They recorded three seminal studio albums—Are You Experienced (1967), Axis: Bold As Love (1967), and Electric Ladyland (1968).
Live performances from venues such as the Hollywood Bowl (1967) and Berkeley (1970) have been issued on vinyl, alongside various compilation and deluxe editions. The group dissolved in June 1969, shortly before Hendrix continued other projects.
