A highly anticipated event for Jimi's many fans, whose 50th death anniversary has recently been widely discussed: a brand-new documentary "Music, Money, Madness . . . Jimi Hendrix In Maui," along with the accompanying album "Live In Maui."
The film recounts the Jimi Hendrix Experience's visit to Maui and how they were somewhat trapped by Rainbow Bridge, the "cursed" film produced by their controversial manager Michael Jeffery.
The Blu-ray includes the full documentary as well as bonuses featuring all existing 16mm color films shot from the two afternoon concerts, mixed in stereo and 5.1 surround sound. The package will include Live In Maui—the two sets they played that day spread across 2 CDs or 3 vinyl records, recently restored and mixed by Jimi Hendrix's longtime engineer Eddie Kramer, and mastered by Bernie Grundman.
"Jimi loved adventure, and he certainly got plenty of it during his time in Hawaii, a place he adored," says Janie Hendrix. "The story of Rainbow Bridge and these recordings show Jimi's amazing ability to turn the bizarre into something incredible! We are very excited about this release because it allows the whole world to gain a better perception of Jimi's genius."
