Electro
Electronic music has established itself as one of the major trends in the contemporary scene, born in the clubs and sound laboratories of the 80s and 90s. Hypnotic rhythms, synthetic pads, and deep bass are its pillars, creating a musical language that is both festive and experimental.
From Kraftwerk to Daft Punk, from Laurent Garnier to Carl Cox, from pioneers to today's DJs, electro has explored dozens of subgenres: house, techno, trance, drum'n'bass, or minimal. Each era has seen the birth of new sounds shaping clubs and festivals worldwide.
This music is inseparable from dance and collective experience. It unites entire audiences, whether on intimate dancefloors or monumental stages of international festivals.
Each Electro vinyl is both an archive and a playground: it transmits the raw energy of a set and invites endless rediscovery. A vibrant universe, where innovation and celebration intertwine to create unforgettable moments.

Electro on vinyl: When machines take over the decks
From Bronx block parties to Detroit's underground
Electro was born in the early 1980s from an unprecedented cultural collision: the raw energy of nascent hip-hop, roller-skate rink culture, and European electronic music. Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force laid the cornerstone in 1982 with 'Planet Rock,' a 12" single built around a Kraftwerk sample and the Roland TR-808, whose cavernous kicks and razor-sharp claps would define the genre's DNA. Meanwhile, in Detroit, Juan Atkins and Richard Davis, recording as Cybotron, crafted 'Clear' (1983), a visionary track where synthetic funk veered into colder, uncharted territory, paving the way for what would soon be called techno. Vinyl was the lifeblood of this movement: mixed on Technics turntables at block parties, pressed in small batches, each 12" carries a story as much through its grooves as through its physical sleeve.
Landmark records, legendary labels, and pressing tips
Among the genre's cornerstones, you'll encounter Egyptian Lover's hypnotic maxis ('Egypt, Egypt,' 1984), Newcleus's electric breakbeats ('Jam On It'), Drexciya's aquatic sci-fi soundscapes on Rephlex and Underground Resistance pressings, and the precision-crafted output of Dutch label Clone and the Viewlexx/Bunker Records galaxy. For collectors, the hunt for the right pressing is a matter of standards: a US original Tommy Boy pressing of 'Planet Rock,' a Cybotron 12" on Deep Space Records, or a limited Dopplereffekt release on Dataphysix Engineering are worlds apart from a standard reissue. This is where Vinyles.com proves invaluable, by comparing prices and editions across multiple sellers, the site helps you track down the version that matches your quest, whether you're after a 180g remastered edition or patiently chasing an original pressing.
