Coin Collection 3 is the final installment of the Coin Collection trilogy (2021, 2023), a foundational series in Spencer Cullum's solo career. Born from his need to reconnect with his roots and influences, this project highlights both his personal vision and the richness of his artistic surroundings. A kaleidoscope of folk, jazz, and pop, the album was assembled from nomadic recordings (analog tapes, voice notes on iPhone, and raw studio takes) gathered on cassette from his garden shed converted into a studio. It features Erin Rae, Rich Ruth, Oisin Leech, and Hollow Hand. To make sense of contemporary crises, Cullum turned to English folklore: occult tales, ancient rituals, and vengeful nature permeate several tracks where the natural world reclaims its dominance over humanity. "I made my own A24 horror film," he summarizes.
