« Glück Auf ! » is chapter 2 of the collaboration between Rodolphe Burger and Érik Marchand, following the project « Before Bach » (2004). 15 years after BEFORE BACH, here come RODOLPHE BURGER and ÉRIK MARCHAND back to the mine, to dig deeper and extract a new repertoire. "GLÜCK AUF !" ("Good Luck!") : it is the motto of the miners of Sainte-Marie-Aux-Mines. It is also the title of this new album, recorded with the indispensable MEHDI HADDAB and the road companions JULIEN PERRAUDEAU (keyboards, bass) and ARNAUD DIETERLEN (drums). A new partner has joined the team: PAULINE WILLERVAL (Bulgarian violin and vocals). A blues dedicated to John Henry (working class hero par excellence), a theme by Titi Robin customized, a revisited Albanian piece, a Turkish song, a chant dedicated to Manuel Kerjean, Érik Marchand's mentor, titles by Rodolphe Burger reinterpreted, and even an improbable version of Eisbär by Grauzone, here are some of the components of this new repertoire, which once again illustrates the connections between blues and traditional music, boosted by the energy of a rock rhythm.
