The Finnish noise rock duo Nyos (Tom Brooke & Tuomas Kainulainen) deliver a visionary album, written at a time when the present glittered like the feathers on the album cover created by wildlife photographer Zac Herr. Combining the danceable grooves of Battles with bursts of noise influenced by Sonic Youth and the nostalgic electric melodies of And So I Watch You From Afar, "Celebration" is a resolutely joyful, noisy, and festive affair. Nyos' sound has always overflowed with vivacity and dynamism. On their fifth full-length album, you will once again hear an instrumental blend of math/noise/post-rock with driving rhythms (ambient/drum&bass/skanky), infectious grooves, multi-layered compositions, restless energy levels, and dazzling melodies.
