A West Coast jazz icon, Art Pepper rose to prominence in Stan Kenton's big band before establishing himself as a bandleader in the early 1950s. Released in 1956 on the Savoy Records label, Surf Ride brings together twelve of the saxophonist's tracks from a series of sessions recorded between 1952 and 1954 with a panel of session musicians including Jack Montrose (tenor saxophone), Larry Bunker (drums), and pianist Russ Freeman. Audiophile reissue in the Original Jazz Classic collection.
