Recorded in Hollywood between two sessions in December 1956 and January 1957, Art Pepper Quartet's 'Modern Art' for the Intro label was an example of West Coast Jazz that presented his soaring alto saxophone melodies at the height of cool jazz, bebop, and blues.
This collection of originals and standards includes Pepper's “Blues In” and “Blues Out”, and in between, sublime versions of “Bewitched”, “Stompin' At The Savoy”, “What Is This Thing Called Love”, and other delights.
