Artist, musician, and author Meg Remy is back with a new album from her project U.S. Girls. ‘Scratch It’ was born from a friendly reunion with guitarist Dillon Watson when Remy, in the midst of a tour, was looking to assemble a group of musicians to accompany her on tracks from ‘Bless This Mess’ (2023). Inspired by this successful experience, the ad hoc band reunited in Nashville to record ‘Scratch It’ live and on tape in 10 days, with Remy and Watson joined by Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs) on bass, Domo Donoho on drums, and Jo Schornikow and Tina Norwood on keyboards, all still supported by Maximilian Turnbull (Slim Twig) as producer and with the participation of harmonica legend Charlie McCoy (Elvis, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison) on a few tracks. ‘Scratch It’ weaves together elements of country, gospel, garage rock, disco, and folk while managing to maintain great coherence, notably thanks to Meg Remy’s sensibility and songwriting talent.
