With this second album on 4AD, multidisciplinary artist Meg Remy celebrates ten years of activity as U.S. Girls. For the recording of this album, which she co-produced with Steve Chahley, she called upon the Canadian instrumental collective The Cosmic Range and the arrangements of her long-time collaborators Maximillian Turnball and Louis Percival. The abundance of groove on 'In A Poem Unlimited' takes the opposite approach to the minimalist, sample-based textures that defined her previous album 'Half Free'. It features, for example, disco beats as a language of revolt, funky progressions with sulky melodies, and synth anthems that form the emotional core of the album. 'In A Poem Unlimited' is a collection of dark meditations whose atmosphere echoes the heavy one surrounding violent acts. Several tracks are character studies of women grappling with power, and Remy mobilizes against the public lies of political and religious leaders, but also, and above all, questions the lies we tell ourselves to survive. 'In A Poem Unlimited' is probably her most current and individually shared cry of revolt to date!
