Marking the return to the stage of trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg, responsible here for some of the most profound and thoughtful interventions of his long career, this concert, recorded in February 2023, proved to be particularly poignant.
The repertoire, consisting of pieces taken from Jakob Bro's albums *Returnings* and *Gefion*, is approached with a spirit that is both spontaneous and adventurous, its material constantly metamorphosed by Marilyn Mazur's subtle percussion, blending dreamlike gongs, metallic sounds, and rumbling drums, and the washed-out and undulating sounds of Bro's guitar. The exceptional acoustics of the Danish Radio Concert Hall only enhance the qualities of this music, alternating long atmospheric sequences with abrupt eruptive moments.
