Witchi-tai-to - Naima - Saudi - Pieces - Nature Boy "Pieces: Generations at Sunrise" is a convergence of two generations: the experienced and mature, trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg and guitarist Bjarne Roupé; and the young and enthusiastic, Anton Langebæk on bass and percussionist Benjamin Barfod. Led by guitarist Bjarne Roupé, "Pieces" style leans toward the dreamy, atmospheric sound associated with the ECM label. There are no drums; instead, Benjamin Barfods offers beautiful flourishes on percussion and hang, adding an atmospheric and spiritual sound to the album. Trumpeter and trombonist Palle Mikkelborg is a legend of Danish jazz, probably best known for composing and producing Miles Davis's album "Aura". In addition, he has recorded with ECM stars such as Terje Rypdal, Gary Peacock, and in 2018 he collaborated with Jakob Bro on the highly acclaimed "Returnings". Here, he and Bjarne Roupé show that their playing is still fresh, and the band comes together in a great recording that seamlessly bridges the generation gap.
