Philadelphia activist and experimental artist Camae Ayewa (aka Moor Mother) releases her first full album with ANTI-, "Black Encyclopedia of the Air." She initially released an epic single "Zami" that heralds this album recorded at home during the pandemic with soundscape producer Olof Melander. It follows her last album "BRASS" from 2020. The album features "13 enchanting tracks about memory, imprint, and the future, all floating in the pristine space like the phantom ashes of a world on fire," a sentiment that continues her work with the Black Quantum Futurism collective. This sentiment aligns with her ongoing work with the Black Quantum Futurism collective. The album announcement is accompanied by a new single, "Obsidian," featuring rapper Pink Siifu. Ayewa's cold, deep voice perfectly complements Siifu's more conventional flow, and the stuttering percussion and vocal effects give the song an ethereal quality.
