The Gigolo

Description

After honing his skills alongside a peak Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Morgan quickly established himself as one of jazz trumpet's great virtuosos. A sideman for numerous stars such as Hank Mobley, John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Jimmy Smith, and Wayne Shorter, it was during the Hard Bop era that he truly made his mark as a leader. Recorded in 1965, "The Gigolo" was first released three years later in 1968. Surrounded by an exceptional quintet, he was joined by some of the genre's luminaries such as Harold Mabern (piano), Bob Cranshaw (bass), Billy Higgins (drums), and Wayne Shorter (saxophone). Discover this Hard Bop gem from one of the trumpet masters in a 180-gram vinyl edition.
