Description
For his fourth album "Ulul?", Japanese pianist Koki Nakanotranscends the conceptual to deliver an intimate and visceral musical expression. Inspired by a childhood memory and a famous haiku by Issa Kobayashi, "Ulul?" (meaning "cry" in Latin) explores unfulfilled desire and the awareness of human limits. Koki blends piano and modern vocal collaborations with artists like UK rapper Jordy, WAYNE SNOW, and Yael Naim. His avant-garde music, merging virtuosity, emotional simplicity, and ambient textures, expresses a romantic melancholy while being imbued with beauty, humor, and light.
