For his fourth album, "Ulul?", Japanese pianist Koki Nakano transcends the conceptual to deliver an intimate and visceral musical expression. Inspired by a childhood memory and a famous haiku by Issa Kobayashi, "Ulul?" (meaning "to cry out" in Latin) explores unfulfilled longing and the realization of human limitations. Koki fuses piano and modern vocal collaborations with artists such as UK rapper Jordy, WAYNE SNOW, and Yael Naim. His avant-garde music, blending virtuosity, emotive simplicity, and ambient textures, expresses a romantic melancholy while being imbued with beauty, humor, and light. A release party will take place at the Café de la Danse next January.
