Metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, founded in 1991 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nystrom. Katatonia started as an atmospheric doom/death/black metal hybrid in the early 1990s on the underground metal scene, but has evolved over the years to become a very unique metal/progressive rock band that continues to explore the boundaries of its own sound with each new release.
