Katatonia released in 2016 their major work, The Fall of Hearts, which was met with wide critical and commercial success, notably reaching 1st place on the USA Heatseekers chart, 5th on the Hard Rock charts in the United States, 2nd in Sweden, 3rd in Canada, and 4th in the United Kingdom in the Rock & Metal rankings. This album marks the arrival of drummer Daniel "Mojjo" Moilanen, as well as the recently recruited guitarist Roger Öjersson (Blindead 23, ex-Tiamat), whose incisive solos greatly enrich the record. With this release, Katatonia continues its evolution by pushing the boundaries of metal, attracting an ever-wider audience beyond the traditional heavy scene, and positioning itself alongside bands like Opeth or Anathema, thus consolidating its status as an essential and respected formation in modern heavy music.
