In 2019, the remarkable vibraphonist and composer Joel Ross released 'KingMaker,' his debut album on Blue Note, which was recognized by his peers and widely acclaimed by critics (New York Times, Rolling Stone, etc.). Today, with his second opus, 'Who Are You?', the young artist returns with a more contemporary sound.
"This record is about our peak maturity - as individuals, as a group, within the music - it's about finding out who we are," he states. 'Who Are You?' features his long-standing band 'Good Vibes,' comprising Jeremy Corren on piano, Immanuel Wilkins on alto saxophone, Jeremy Dutton on drums, and welcomes new member Kanoa Mendenhall on bass. Harpist Brandee Younger also appears on five tracks. It’s an album full of twists and turns, where risk-taking is evident.
