HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF returns with a new folk-blues album. After many years in New Orleans, Alynda Segarra, founder of HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF, began to feel nervous and increasingly out of place there. Her new album, *The Navigator*, tells the story of her avatar: Navita Milagos Negron. Through this alias, the listener hears the cinematic and ambitious story of a wanderer who ultimately realizes that she needs to connect with and honor her ancestors. The album was produced by Paul Butler, whose work with Michael Kiwanuka Segarra had greatly admired. Butler notably brought together percussionist Juan Carlos Chaurand and Devendra Banhart's drummer, Gregory Rogove, to tackle all styles, from Cuban to Puerto Rican to Brazilian beats.
