INTUITION

Description

An internationally renowned cellist, performing in Berlin, London, Paris, Chicago, and Shanghai, founder of a masterclass at the Louis Vuitton Foundation and a jury member on the France 2 show "Les Prodiges," Gautier Capuçon is now at the pinnacle of his art. In "Intuition," his new album event, Gautier Capuçon invites us to journey through the soundscapes that have marked his life. With magic and emotion, he tells his own story, alternating virtuosity (Scott Joplin's "Original Rag," Popper's "Dance of the Elves," Jérôme Ducros's "Encore"), melancholy (Fauré's "Après un rêve," Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise," Piazzolla's "Grand Tango"), and contemplation (Massenet's "Méditation de Thaïs," Saint-Saëns's "Le Cygne," Tchaikovsky's "Andante Cantabile"). He is brilliantly accompanied by pianist Jérôme Ducros and the Orchestre de chambre de Paris conducted by Douglas Boyd. "Intuition" undoubtedly appears, to date, to be his most personal album. He explains it in these terms: "Since childhood, intuition has guided my journey in discovering the cello, much like discovering a landscape. The cello weeps, sings, and soars in perfect harmony with our most intimate thoughts. Before the bow vibrates on the strings, even before any thought of technique and training: it is through intuition that music begins." Gautier Capuçon
