The album 8:18 by The Devil Wears Prada, released in 2013, once again achieved the feat of topping the Pop (6th), Metal (2nd), and Christian Music (1st) charts (the title itself refers to the biblical verse Romans 8:18, which states that our present sufferings are insignificant compared to the glory to come). This pretty much sums up the appeal of TDWP: what other band can so fluidly transition from moments of visceral madness to instances of spiritual grace? 8:18 marked the swan song of founding members Chris Rubey and Daniel Williams, and they bowed out with panache; the addition of hardcore punk ingredients ("Black & Blue", "Number Eleven") and pure heavy metal ("Rumors") to TDWP's melodic metalcore cauldron creates an explosive blend. This navy blue pressing is presented in a gatefold sleeve with elegantly understated artwork, accompanied by an insert. A true work of art on every level.
