Big Crown Records is proud to present Ruby, the debut album by Dave Guy. After lending his talents on stage and in the studio to artists like Amy Winehouse, Lizzo, Pharrell, and Sharon Jones, and performing every night on the Tonight Show as a member of The Roots, Dave embarks on a journey with an album that is both unique and modern in jazz. Ruby blends his musical influences with the energies of the city that raised him, capturing different moods and inviting the listener into the world as Dave Guy sees and feels it. Recorded in Queens at the Legendary Diamond Mine studio, the album is produced by Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon and features musical contributions from Leon Michels, Marco Benevento, Claire Cottrill, and many others. Ruby instantly stands in the lineage of classics as a fully realized album rather than just a collection of songs. It skillfully navigates between energetic anthems, Latin-inspired tracks made for the dance floor, spiritual jazz vibes, and more stripped-down, intimate pieces.
