The 4th album, Devil Is Fine, tackles the theme of black metal: rituals, sacrifices, but also fire and blood. Close your eyes and imagine: Django (from Quentin Tarantino’s film) sacrificing a goat on stage, shouting intimidating chants, accompanied by frenzied guitar riffs in the background. The rhythmic clinking of chains, reminiscent of satanic sermons, then gives way to the sinister melodies of Norwegian black metal. This blend of genres, which has been generating interest online since April 2016, is by Zeal & Ardor. It is the first baby of Swiss-American musician Manuel Gagneux. His approach to music is based on a vision of alternative history, a contrasting way of thinking. Noisey describes it as “one of the most intriguing albums of the year.” With lyrics colored by the sacred songs sung by those groups of chained prisoners, the level of blasphemy in Zeal & Ardor rises another notch.

The revelation of the year

With its mix of Black Metal, Blues, and American slave songs, Zeal & Ardor is for me the musical revelation of this year. Very good album, listen without restraint!!
