Sweet Savage is back with Bang, a band with precise riffs, powerful drumming, and poignant lyrics. Bang combines driving metal with dark sonic textures and unexpected twists: the sound of a band that has nothing to prove and yet has a lot to say. Founded in 1979 in Belfast by bassist and singer Ray Haller, then by Dio/Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell, Sweet Savage was part of the first wave of the British New Wave of Heavy Metal. Unlike many of their contemporaries such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Saxon, they did not release a full-length album at the start of their career, becoming underground legends. When Metallica covered their track “Killing Time,” the band was already cult. With Bang, Sweet Savage returns in top form. Far from nostalgia, its roots remain undeniable: aggressive metal with industrial textures and the DIY spirit of punk.
