The band BAEST comes from Aarhus in Denmark and has successfully established itself as one of the country’s most promising metal bands in recent years! They won two Gaffa awards in 2019 (for Best Metal Album and Best Newcomer) and were followed by the Danish TV channel DR during their European tour with Decapitated for a documentary series titled Den Satans Familie, aired in June 2019. They appeared on a morning show (“Go Morgen Danmark”) and on an evening prime-time program (“Aftenshowet”). BAEST achieved all this by playing, writing, touring, working in the name of death metal, impressing audiences with their furious sound and captivating, energetic stage presence, and unleashing wild waves of HM2 pedal riffs. The time has come to open chapter two of this incredible journey that began in 2015. “In Denmark, BAEST has become the first death metal band,” the band proudly reveals. “We are currently on the verge of entering new territory that no Danish death metal band has ever done before, even though with Undergang, Phrenelith, Slaegt, there is no shortage of great bands here. Nevertheless, we have brought our music to the major radio stations and TV channels and we are experiencing fans supporting us, who had never attended metal shows before.” Recorded at FinlandStudio, mixed and mastered by Andreas Linnemann at Hop House Studio, Venenum shows the band, with strong Swedish death metal influences, evolving toward a more diverse approach, incorporating elements reminiscent of Morbid Angel, Death and Bolt Thrower, a batch of crushing anthems. “It’s a continuation of Danse Macabre, where the listener is drawn into our own hell, conceptually built around Dante’s The Divine Comedy,” explains BAEST about the approach to album number two. “The songs each describe their own circle of hell, which means they all have a different atmosphere and idea. We especially like the track As Above So Below, a tribute to the late Chuck Schuldiner, which combines his melodic style with our own ferocity.” Another major highlight is the opening track of Venenum, the memorial monument titled Gula, which sees the band explore “the heavier side and the heaviest sound of BAEST. We ended up with a raw, simple yet gnarly title, which underlines the foundations of BAEST: melody and groove mixed with chaos.” To the delight of their early fans, BAEST have also remixed and remastered their cover of No Guts, No Glory, which will be released digitally and as a bonus track: “It was recorded in 2017, but the fans asked us to release it. Bolt Thrower is strong on the conceptual side and stands out for its uncompromising, heavy and catchy songwriting style - it’s our tribute to the greats!” Coming just one year after its predecessor, Venenum proves that BAEST have become stronger, more experienced, more passionate and more determined while touring and promoting their debut album Danse Macabre. The new release will come out on September 13, 2019 on Century Media Records and will be presented on tour across Europe, with BAEST as special guests of Aborted and Entombed A.D.! A fantastic opportunity for this aspiring quintet: “With a steadily growing number of fans, the goal for 2019 is to keep up this momentum and reach new territories. This month-long tour will be a great opportunity to make sure everyone gets the chance to discover how we bring hell to the stages we visit!”
