Ton Koopman est l'un des grands maîtres de notre époque dans le domaine de la musique baroque. Claveciniste, organiste, chef d'orchestre, fondateur de l'Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra et d'un festival de musique baroque dans le Périgord Vert, donnant des concerts toute l'année à travers le monde, il fait partie, avec Nikolaus Harnoncourt et John Eliot Gardiner, de la génération qui a su donner un nouvel élan à la musique baroque grâce à une lecture historiquement informée, au plus près de l'espritdans lequel sont nées ces oeuvres. A l'occasion de ses 75 ans, Erato publie pour la première fois une sélection de ses meilleurs enregistrements de musique baroque.Ce coffret 10CD donne un remarquable aperçu de son legs discographique : au programme les Sonates pour viole de gambe de Bach avec Jordi Savall, les Concertos pour violon du même compositeur avec Monica Huggett, le deuxième Livre du Clavier bien tempéré... Mais aussi des oeuvres de Telemann, Frescobaldi, Buxtehude, Haendel... Son épouse la claveciniste Tini Mathot se joint à lui dans des oeuvres de Soler et WF Bach.
