What we gonna do right here is “Go Back”, way back. It not only reminds of an Arthur Russell vibe, it has the de facto ingredients of Arthur Russell’s highly acclaimed garage sound: naturally Steven Hall aka Nirosta Steel was the guitarist and/or singer of Arthur Russell’s hits “Is It All Over My Face”, “In The Light Of A Miracle” or “Tell You Today”. Never oxidizing Nirosta Steel met up with DJ, producer and Chinese record shop owner Tomasz Guiddo, who already have had a previous Compost Disco release. When Kalabrese heard the original, he said it reminded him of a hidden Talking Heads track. Anyway, Kalabrese delivered his typical live-made disco-tinged joy ride, while Shahrokh Dini pushes “Go Back” forward into an enervating house hemisphere. Digital bonus is a Bohannon-esque phat disco trip by Pocketknife. Last but not least there will be a Michael Reinboth remix too, which is coupled onto the 25 Years Compost Records 10x12” box set. About Nirosta Steel Nirista Steel represents the solo tunes and collaborations of Steven Hall, the Scottish singer/guitarist who moonlights as the leader of Brooklyn's Arthur's Landing. Steven grew up in Scotland in the '60s, singing in church choirs and learning the bagpipes. "I was shy, and wanted to be cool and meet boysand girls, so I taught myself the guitar and learned the songs of The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, and Donovan." Steven emigrated to the US at age 15. After high school, he moved to New York where he hung out with artists, dancers, and musicians. There he met Allen Ginsberg who invited him to attend Naropa Buddhist University in Colorado.
