The Man Who Sold The World, le premier album de David Bowie paru dans les années 1970 inaugure la collaboration avec le guitariste Mick Ronson, qui allait se poursuivre avec les incontournables Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust et Aladdin Sane. Il signale également le début d’une décennie d’enregistrements hors du commun jusqu’à Scary Monsters, en 1980.Re-baptisée Metrobolist, le premier titre envisagé pour l’album, la réédition de The Man Who Sold The World remasterisée par son producteur original Tony Visconti est parueen 2020. Nommé d’après le titre d’ouverture de l’album, inspiré par le nom d’une peinture de George Underwood, un ami de David Bowie, The Width Of A Circle est un complément à Metrobolist.
