As the peak of an innovative and progressive thought that conceives of the group, the whole without denying the individual, the intimate; and that could be summarized by an explicit 'together and separately'; this new opus by Zentone is the fruit of a summit meeting between Zenzile - HighTone, of collective work finalized solo, in the creative lair of each of the entities in question. A volume 2 or rather two eagerly awaited volume 2s! In August 2006, Zenzile and High Tone released Zentone, an album accompanied by the mention 'Zenzile Meets High Tone'. A decade and a half later, they're back at it! It must be said that both the Angevins and the Lyonnais have shared, since their beginnings, a pronounced taste for instrumental dub, the kind that is conceived in the studio as well as on stage, instruments in hand. Higher and stronger! Everything is recorded. Kilometers of bass-drums, or rather megabytes of rhythms, but also melodies and arrangements, which, duplicated, will then be refined by each of the groups. Last detail - and it's a significant one in the case of a dub-stamped album - voices enrich the compositions. Friendly voices like that of the Nigerian from Lyon Nai-Jah on Open Gate, of the Clermontois Jolly Joseph on Desobey, of the veteran Jamaican settled in France Rod Taylor on Hot or of his young compatriot and dub-poet Nazamba. Yes, the plural is imperative for this release, since from the dozen recorded tracks, Zenzile and High Tone have produced and finalized more than 22 tracks that they have realigned according to the formats. The most atmospheric ones are on the CD. The vinyl, for its part, captivates with the more directly sound-system-oriented versions. A plural that, as you will be able to note upon listening, does not lack singularity, strength and sublimates the personality of each of the groups at work. --- Squaaly ---.
