Since last summer, the sulfurous Swiss alchemists Zeal & Ardor have been steadily attracting attention by releasing various explosive excerpts from their new album. Simply titled 'Zeal & Ardor', this astonishing and superb new avant-garde surge is now finally available in its entirety on the MKKA label. Dripping with righteous fury from every pore – without being an unrelenting musical mess – the 14 tracks of this self-titled album were recorded by Marc Obrist and Manuel Gagneux at Hutch Sounds, and mixed and mastered by Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio. All songs were written and performed (except for the drum parts) by Manuel Gagneux, a soft-spoken polyglot. "One of the most captivating sonic experiences... Brilliantly proclaims Gagneux's insolent talent, true and brilliant..." --- ROCK HARD ---. Gagneux states: "With the self-titled record, we have arrived at what I imagined this project should sound like. It’s the longest we’ve worked on a single record, and I think it shows. The most important thing for one of our records is to instantly transport you into our mood, our world. While it may not be the one you expect from us, this record certainly delivers on that front. We had time to focus on what we believe makes us interesting and what sounds we’d like to explore through that, we found our home. The house is burning. Welcome home."
