Named a breakthrough artist by NPR Music, Yasmin Williams is beloved for her innovative style and versatility. This album marks a major turning point in her career and personal life. Originally from northern Virginia, she draws inspiration from Jimi Hendrix, smooth jazz, and R&B. Her latest album, Urban Driftwood, incorporates influences from West African griot music. She is known for playing several instruments such as the kalimba, the harp-guitar, and the guitar with the strings facing up, placed on her lap.
