Short movie

Description

The talented English singer-songwriter Laura Marling presents, at only 25 years old, her fifth album. A majestic and intense album, which offers itself as a true rebirth in the already rich discography of this prodigious musician. Having settled in Los Angeles for a few years, she breaks away throughout her 13 tracks written in Joshua Tree from the purely acoustic folk of her beginnings to explore vast, bold, and especially more electric musical territories, reminiscent of PJ Harvey, as seen in the first single ''FalseHope'' or the very beautiful ''Gurdijeff's Daughter''. To demystify the production, Laura produced ''Short Movie'' herself, surrounded by two sound engineers, Matt Ingram (who also plays drums) and Dan Cox. An experience she describes as "pleasant, but anxiety-inducing." For the recording, which took place at Urchin Studios in London, she was accompanied on cello by her former collaborator, Ruth De Turberville, Nick Pini on bass, and Tom Fiddle from Noah and the Whale. The result is an album of stunning beauty, reflecting a period of vast exploration for Laura Marling, resolutely unique in the current musical landscape.
