Born from an initiative by double bassist William Brunard, who is also its artistic director, the "Django Celebration" project aims to celebrate Django Reinhardt's legacy through a series of intergenerational encounters between a recognized figure in this music and an emerging or new-generation talent. To achieve this, Label Ouest and the Sunset-Sunside, a famous Parisian jazz club, are partnering to invite "the crème de la crème" of Gypsy jazz guitarists, spanning all generations. The two soloists inaugurating this collection, which is set to run until 2028 (the 75th anniversary of Django's passing), are universally acclaimed by fans of this music and beyond. Stochelo Rosenberg has been one of the two or three major international figures in Gypsy jazz guitar for several decades. As for Rocky Gresset, his regular collaboration with Thomas Dutronc, both on stage and in the studio, has given him solid experience, as have his encounters with some of French jazz's luminaries (Louis Winsberg, Eric Legnini...). Both musicians possess to the highest degree a common quality that brings them together for the best: elegance. Elegance in their playing, phrasing, sensibility, and emotion, which in both cases are expressed with supreme refinement. This combination gives their music a unique dimension and character, regardless of the repertoire, whether standards, Django's classics, or personal compositions.
