Repress of the 2015 album on vinyl / The (short) wait is over. After just over a year, Umse returns with a new release. Ultimately, an album "just has to be good; nobody here cares how long you spent on it, what matters is how long it spins," he says. It's his third album on his label, Jakarta Records, and it's called "Hawaiianischer Schnee" (Hawaiian Snow). The record was written and conceptualized in a small country house in the Dutch province of Gelderland. As always, Deckah himself is responsible for the entire production, giving the album its final touches in the RZwoDrehZwo Studio. The two are "bosses when it comes to sound, a dream duo, a one-room studio, no extensive equipment, and that's a good thing." Umse, also known as Christoph Umbeck, has been active since 1997 and has always remained true to himself, without the bitter undertone that characterized many MCs of his generation in 2015. Still "no time for four courses, just a hot dog on the go," still dozens of shows every year between Konstanz and Kiel, still "golden moments during rush hour." The artist from Ratingen is now also gaining recognition from the heroes of the Ruhrpott sound – Aphroe (RAG) and Dike honor him with a feature on "Hawaiianischer Schnee." Nevertheless, the new album is not "old news" ("hawaiianischer Schnee von gestern"). As on his previous albums, Umse succeeds in mastering the fine line between trademark sound and experimentation. From multifaceted observations about "Menschen" (People), to classic rap tracks like "Hawaiianischer Schnee," to reflections on socialization in "Wer bist du" (Who Are You). In recent years, his activities are now reaching an increasingly larger audience; hard work simply pays off.
