In the early 80s, UB40 burst onto the scene with the track "Food For Thought," quickly climbing the charts. When their debut album *Signing Off* was released, the band was so successful that they refused to collect the unemployment benefits they were receiving at the time, which inspired the album's name and cover art. It was also the first dub album in history to enter the UK charts. In 1983, the band covered about ten Jamaican classics, and contrary to expectations, this album, titled *Labour of Love*, became a number one hit. It features tracks like "Cherry Oh Baby," "Please Don't Make Me Cry," and "Red Red Wine." Throughout their career, UB40 collaborated with many prestigious artists, often giving rise to hits. These include the singles "I Got You Babe" (1985) and "Breakfast In Bed" (1988) with Chrissie Hynde, "Reckless" (1988) with Afrika Bambaataa, and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" (1990) with Robert Palmer. *Collected* brings together all these phases of the band's career on a complete and collectible double vinyl.
