Osni The Flare

Description

In Osni the Flare, the second installment of Tristan Allen's mythical trilogy, the composer, producer, and puppeteer explores the transformation of a mortal into a deity through the discovery of fire. Recorded over four years using wordless vocals, organs, ocarinas, an array of toy instruments, and intricate sound design, Osni the Flare unveils the origins of flame and temporality in four captivating acts, both sonically and visually. Weaving a creation myth that oscillates between beauty, shadow, and melancholic embers, Allen opens a portal to a powerful and finely crafted sonic and narrative universe whose echoes resonate in a fantastical realm. Recorded almost entirely with an Aston static microphone in Allen's Brooklyn apartment, overlooking Cypress Hills Cemetery, Osni the Flare was conceived using toy pianos and flutes, ocarinas, harmonium, pump organ, electric and double basses, gadgets, and a vast collection of music boxes and bells. The vocal melody, inspired by his partner Virginia Garcia Ruiz's humming reminiscent of Pan's Labyrinth, marks Allen's first foray into singing, using a wordless melody to allow listeners to remain protagonists. Osni the Flare constructs an entire universe with remarkable meticulousness. Numerous elements intertwine with striking coherence, each developing from a unique idea, like a fantasy series unfolding in the same realm. The album realizes Allen's childhood dreams, nurtured by fantasy films: music that doesn't sound like an instrumental game, but like the very work of the fantasy world. Through the subtle art of "telling truthful lies," Allen invites the listener to a primordial and direct experience. As Osni transforms from mortal to deity, the album traces not only the origin of fire but also that of myth itself. Tristan Allen's Osni the Flare will be released on Friday, March 27th on vinyl, Japanese CD (via Plancha), and digital (RVNG Intl.).
