Originally from Niort, Benoît and Lionel JARLAN formed PTOSE in 1979. In order to produce and distribute their music (and sometimes that of others), the two companions immediately set up Ptôse Production Présente, an independent structure through which they released around fifteen cassettes between 1980 and 1984, now collector's items. The French band took part in dozens of compilations around the world and thus entered the self-produced movement, whose international network was very active at the time. The group is now emblematic of the French underground scene of the early eighties: offbeat music, carefully designed sleeves, limited editions... At the end of 1984, the young label AYAA produced "Ignobles Limaces". This is PTOSE's first studio album. The contribution of American illustrator Mark BEYER for the cover definitively stuck the label of "THE RESIDENTS français" on the Niort band. It is therefore to properly celebrate the twentieth anniversary of its release that the Gazul label now adds this album to its catalog. Orchestrated by the French collective PALO ALTO, this reissue also allows you to (re-)discover "Night Of The Reptiles", a cassette released in 1983, a true collection of unreleased and alternative versions. To be rediscovered urgently!
