The Singer in My Band is the second album by This Is Lorelei, the solo project of Nate Amos, an American musician who is also a member of the avant-pop duo Water From Your Eyes. In the continuity of Box for Buddy, Box for Star (2024) - critically acclaimed and supported by contemporary artists like MJ Lenderman, Hayley Williams, Cameron Winter, or Jeff Tweedy - this new album draws from the tradition of great American songs while reinventing it. Written on the road and primarily produced at home, the album bears the intimate signature of Nate Amos: he shapes almost every element, with the notable exception of the banjo, played by his father, bluegrass musician Bob Amos, and a few additional vocals (Al Nardo, Sarah Amos). The influence of bluegrass and americana is essential, acting as a discreet yet structuring thread. The twelve tracks of The Singer In My Band are compositions that are both familiar and unique, where melodic clarity coexists with a certain strangeness that is as idiosyncratic as it is innovative.
