In 2024, prolific New York artist Nate Amos released his debut solo album, « Box for Buddy, Box for Star », under the name This Is Lorelei. Acclaimed by critics, the album received year-end praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, GQ, Pitchfork, Stereogum, The FADER and Paste. Since then, Amos's popularity has only grown. Last year, he released a landmark album with his band Water From Your Eyes, a compilation of re-recorded tracks from This Is Lorelei titled « Holo Boy », and shared numerous collaborations and reinterpretations of songs from « Box for Buddy », gathered in a quasi-deluxe edition featuring collaborations with MJ Lenderman, Snail Mail and his father and sister, Bob and Sarah Amos. The tracks from « Box for Buddy » continue to resonate, making headlines and appearing in sometimes grainy live videos, notably thanks to covers by artists like Waxahatchee and Cameron Winter who incorporate them into their own setlists. So it seemed only natural that the entirety of « Box for Buddy » be reinvented, bringing together a group of Amos's friends, relatives and colleagues to cover and collaborate on all the tracks. « Box for Buddy, Box for Star (Super Deluxe) » offers fully reimagined versions of each song from Amos's debut album: an intimate and experimental version by Hayley Williams and her close collaborator Daniel James, taken from their new project Power Snatch; a haunting ballad by SASAMI with striking key changes; and a pure guitar explosion from Momma. Among the other treasures contained in this unique collection is an unexpected and successful collaboration between Jeff Tweedy and Amos's long-time collaborators, a fantasy on a broken heart. This collection also features outsider pop author LUCY (Cooper B Handy), Tim Heidecker and the long-awaited studio version of Waxahatchee's cover of « Where's Your Love Now ».
