Description

When they met in the 90s, ERIC HILTON & ROB GARZA quickly understood that their rapport and chemistry would allow them to do great things. Their first album "Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi" was released in 1996 and was a worldwide hit. Dedicated to Antonio Carlos Jobim, it already announced their love for Bossa Nova, which is found on their new album, "Saudade". Constantly pushing the limits of their imagination, they now return with "Saudade" on their own label ESL MUSIC. Influenced by South American sounds, particularly from Brazil, THIEVERY CORPORATION distills throughout the 13 tracks of "Saudade" a warm and melancholic atmosphere, paying homage to their elders: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gal Costa, Luis Bonfá, Serge Gainsbourg, Ennio Morricone. Many tracks are sung in French, reminding us of the Francophone wave in 60s music. We find U.N.K.L.E.'s drummer Michael Lowery on the album, as well as Federico Aubele (Argentine singer-songwriter) and Brazilian percussionist Roberto Santos.
