In 1968, saxophonist Sonny Criss gave jazz a new direction with Sonny's Dream (Birth Of The New Cool), ten years after Miles Davis' legendary Birth of the Cool, whose nonet formula he reprised.
Accompanied by Conte Candoli (trumpet) and Teddy Edwards (saxophone), among others, and entirely composed and arranged by Horace Tapscott, its six tracks boldly and intensely break free from their model. Reissued in the audiophile Original Jazz Classics Series.
