A virtuoso trumpeter, Roy Hargrove began his career alongside one of jazz's legends, Wynton Marsalis. By signing his first contract with Verve, the musician opened the doors to very prestigious collaborations in the 1990s. He notably supported Joe Henderson, Stanley Turrentine, Joshua Redman, and Branford Marsalis.
Launched by all these luminaries of the genre, he continued his appearances and worked with other great musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, Jimmy Smith, as well as some of the rising stars of hip-hop and Nu Soul. An heir to enlightened jazz, Roy Hargrove is resolutely rooted in his era.
