Recorded at the Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles in 2018, 'Sunset 666' is a live album by The Jesus and Mary Chain, to be released on Fuzz Club.
In 1990, a young American band, full of noise and darkness, was the special guest on the Jesus’ American tour.
The young band was Nine Inch Nails. The headliners: The Jesus and Mary Chain. Almost thirty years later, an invitation was extended. Would the Reid brothers agree to reverse roles and open for Nine Inch Nails' North American tour?
Trent Reznor had been influenced by them since hearing "Psychocandy". So the Reid brothers accepted the invitation.
The tour ended with six shows at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
Sides A, B and C come from the last concert, on December 15th. These twelve songs made up the complete set that night, in order, meaning the show started with the drums of "Just Like Honey," and ended with the fierce euphoria of an eight-and-a-half-minute "Reverence."
Side D
of the vinyl is taken from the December 11th concert and is almost like a mini-showcase of the album 'Automatic', with versions of 'Blues From A Gun', 'Between Planets' and 'Halfway To Crazy'.
