"Focus On Nature" is the new studio album from celebrated post-psych auteur Nick Saloman and his band The Bevis Frond. Seventy-five minutes of glorious melodies that range from 60s psychedelia, through English folk, to Seattle art-punks The Wipers, the pop of DinosaurJr and Hendrix-worthy explorations. There is always an element of playful Englishness in their music. They are heavily inspired by artists such as The Lemonheads, Teenage Fanclub, Elliot Smith, Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. Like its much lauded predecessor, "Little Eden", the new album surveys world weariness but fills a larger canvas; fast food and global warming, broken hearts and nights passed, everyday immortality... All in an offbeat mix of melodic melancholy, garage rock and punky sounds.
