GOWDY’S MOST ACCOMPLISHED SOLO WORK TO DATE. 'Therapy With Colour' is the debut album for Constellation by Montréal composer and sound artist T. Gowdy. Combining experimental electronics with musique concrète elements, rhythmic grooves and intoxicating soundscapes, 'Therapy With Colour' is a brilliantly adventurous record. T. Gowdy has previously released three albums of predominantly ambient electronic music with savory textures. His superb audiovisual performances have been presented at MUTEK (Montréal and Barcelona) and Spektrum (Berlin), in addition to his ongoing work as a producer/engineer, with over fifty albums to his credit to date, including Suuns, Ensemble, and Ada Lea. Inspired by experiments with the Nova Pro 100 Light & Sound Mind Machine (one of the best-known hypnosis devices, released in the late 90s), 'Therapy With Colour' is Gowdy's most sonically and conceptually accomplished solo work to date. The album’s five tracks are drawn from live, linear, real-time stereo recordings, which originated in an audiovisual collaboration between Gowdy and artist Laura Buckley (whose scanner works are featured on the album cover). On 'Therapy With Colour,' the music is meditative, but in a resolutely contemporary and very engaging way. These tracks avoid flashy New Age tropes, long drones, or environmental music. In keeping with the Mind Machine's brainwave synchronization theories, they employ adjacent techno pulses and rhythms, while functioning as dissociative focus music. Each of the five songs has a different mood but forms a harmonious whole.
