The electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso is back with a new album, titled No Rules Sandy. Conceived in intimacy, this new album nevertheless begins a new chapter by combining broken beats, acoustic introspections ('Coming Back To You'), and nostalgic nods to 1990s dance gimmicks, as evidenced by its first single, the radiant 'Sunburn.' Since 2013, the duo has maintained a dynamic described as a "musical argument" by its two members, producer Nick Sanborn and singer Amelia Meath. After releasing three albums — Sylvan Esso in 2017, followed by What Now (2017) and Free Love in 2020 — acclaimed by an enthusiastic fanbase and the Grammy Awards jury, Sylvan Esso continues to confront hypnotic vocal melodies with fractured synthetic soundscapes.
